Today was Andrew’s first day of walking. I was a little anxious about how he would go after the two long flights to Europe. The alarm jarred our world at 5:30am and we were out the door and walking by 6am.
I needn’t have worried. He hit his strides quickly and we soon fell into a pattern where he was well ahead of me and me picking up my pace to keep in sight of him! We reeled off the kms and soon found ourselves at our new destination, Hospital de Orbiga as we had passed the original one by 10:30am – too early to stop.
Andrew is used to staying in hostels, so the albergue is really nothing new.
One piece of advice that he brought with him was using duct tape for the prevention of blisters. When you feel that a blister may be coming on, slap on a piece of duct tape. This advice came from some hardcore outdoors people, so I tried it and it seemed to work!
Lets see what tomorrow brings.
