Great that the weather was beautiful enough to climb the steeper route – The Napoleon Way but it was a killer. I bet Neopoleon never walked it or went by bicycle!
Left St Jean Pied du Port along with other enthusiastic pilgrims, full of the excitement for adventure and the possibilities ahead. The stream of walkers became strung out as the climb slowed everyone down. I thought that the ascent would be the tough part but the descent into Roncesvalles was even tougher.
The Pilgrim’s mass in the evening was a great opportunity to be centred again on the journey ahead.

What? No ‘Coke Zero’ in Orisson? Great pics, though. Love the one of you going through the gate!
